Top Ten Tuesday: Best Books of 2016

Four days and a bit left before we slip into 2017. I’ve read sixty three books this year and may squeeze another one in (The Power by Naomi Alderman) before the 31st.

My last seven books: Famous Five mysteries by Enid Blyton – because I needed (still do, really) some mindless entertainment.

For this week’s Top Ten Tuesday meme (hosted by  The Broke and the Bookish), I am listing the books I enjoyed most in 2016 (regardless of when they were actually published and leaving out re-reads):

1. The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives by Lola Shoneyin

2. Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor

3. Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie

4. Ancillary Sword by Ann Leckie

5. Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie

6. Riders by Joyce Ch’ng

7. Everything Good Will Come by Sefi Atta

8. I Do Not Come to You By Chance by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani

9. Girl Defective by Simmone Howell

10. Sorrow’s Knot by Erin Bow

Special mentions: Serpentine by Candy Pon; Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria by Noo Sao-Wiwa; The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge; Binti  by Nnedi Okorafor, The Shepherd’s Crown by Terry Pratchett.
