Ink Crisis, part 1

From the event’s Facebook page:

The experience of living in urban centres can be challenging in terms of survival, fulfilment and relationships. Stephanie and Chin Yew explore these themes through the individual lenses of their creativity, evoking scenes and stories of struggle, joy and sheer wide-eyed wonder.

Stephanie [] approaches her art with refined and rhythmic craftsmanship, illustrating highly realised worlds that are strange enough to capture our imaginations, but familiar enough to welcome us. On the other hand, Chin Yew [] observes the ups, downs and surprises of modern life with a simple but evocative style, capturing the essence of humankind with brutal honesty.

Explore the visions of these artists and enjoy a journey of reflection upon the struggles, triumphs and beauty of our lives. The Ink Crisis exhibition opens at 12pm on 20th August 2016 at FINDARS. See you there!

Duration: 20th August – 3rd September 2016
Viewing Hours: 12pm – 7pm

Chin Yew is a good friend whose comics I sometimes help edit. Really love his art, which is rough, raw and bursting with energy. I’m not acquainted with Stephanie’s work, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like.

Stay tuned for impressions of Ink Crisis.
